I know it's early but I already can't wait for this bad-boy. Also I saw in the Sentinel 'Smudge' has posted the team he thinks we will start with, so I thought we should get our early predictions for our line up in. His prediction is: (433) Begovic
Bardsley, Shawcross, Huth, Muniesa
Whelan, Nzonzi, Ireland
Odemwingie, Diouf, Arnautovic
My early prediction is; (4231) Begovic
Cameron, Shawcross, Huth, Pieters
Whelan, Nzonzi,
Bojan, Ireland, Arnautovic
Diouf Read more: www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Martin-Smith-Stoke-line-Villa-opener/story-22082458-detail/story.html#ixzz39bcd0DT6Read more at www.stokesentinel.co.uk/Martin-Smith-Stoke-line-Villa-opener/story-22082458-detail/story.html#vuItTAOQ5zqjtXIh.99

Since when have we ever played 4-3-3? And why would we start now? If anything, when we're attacking, we turn into a 4-2-1-3. Weird from Smudge.
It'll be the same system as last year, just with an upgraded squad.
4-2-3-1: Begovic, Cameron, Shawcross, Huth, Pieters; Whelan, N'Zonzi; Bojan, Ireland, Arnautovic; Diouf.
But I wouldn't be surprised if Hughes plonks Diouf on the right (which I don't agree with) and Bojan plays that sexual False 9 role. Or even if Odemwingie starts and Bojan comes on off the bench. Or even if Bardsley starts. Or even Muniesa at LB.
The options!

Amazing that Wingie isnt a starter given his heroics last year, hope he still in the goals and happy to be an impact sub! And how close is Ness to the starting 11? Cant wait to see him in action.

I hope Arnie picks up a few more goals this season. He did more than enough to deserve more than his tally last season.

I just hope we win this first game against a team which could really struggle this year and we get the confidence of three points straight away.
I'll happily take a 2-0 like the Real Betis game, great first half, even second half but no danger of throwing it away.
Come on Stoke.

I think we need a dose of negativity, everybody seems too optimistic about the new season and the match on Saturday. Here you go:
I'm worried. We're all expecting to beat Villa. Mark Hughes' teams are notoriously slow starters and we're still a relatively raw team with the new additions that are likely to be playing, could be playing any number of combinations up front, doubt any of them will be tried and tested. The defence isn't as solid as it has been, we haven't got anywhere near the protection that we used to have in front of the back 4, can't see Bojan, Arnie or Diouf tracking back.
An average Villa season started incredibly last year, they were the fastest team out of the blocks, battering a good Arsenal team away.
Stoke 4-0 Villa

I'm was properly ready for this week to fuck off 2 days ago, feel like a quivering husk clawing my way to the end of the week. Just give me some fucking football already. I think it'll be 1-1. A decent match, lots of chances but a draw to bring everyone down to earth a bit. Some decent reading.

Just remembered what a point Ireland has to prove to Villa and Lambert. I reckon that'll push us over the line.
Stoke 5-0 Villa.

My excitement for tomorrow is ridiculously OTT, which makes me worried. 3 - 0 Stoke Bojan, Diouf, Adam (off the bench)

Ireland looked really good over pre-season so hopefully he'll have a stormer against them tomorrow, he must be really fired up for it.
Can't wait to see how our front line work together in their first proper game.
