I don't know, if she put on a bit of a fake tan and slipped into some sexy undies, I'd definitely give it a go...

They should bring back Formosa, Siam, British Honduras, Yugoslavia etc. Go back to a time when a gentleman did tip his had to a passing lady, toilets were outside and a turn around the room to a nice swing band was a Saturday night out. None of tbese I Boxes, Rapper singers and Tweeters . Not sure about George Formby though, bit saucy and shite.

We're going to have to disagree about your xenophobia comments. Most people I speak to on the subject - and it isn't many - have no issues with Europe or Europeans and understand the distinction between Europe and the EU. You should read The Oatcake if you can bear it ;D, or listen to all the rightwing papers and 'ordinary' folk bleating about first the Poles coming over, then all the Romanians and none of them work but get all the benefits and send it straight back to Poland and Romania! A lot of this is all about them and us I'm afraid. Call it xenophobia, racism, them and us, same principle. "Why should we contribute towards something which doesn't [appear to] have any benefit for us" (my brackets obviously!) will be the statement you hear again and again over the next few months. Stafford Stokie has already stated it on here. He clearly doesn't give a shit about helping out less fortunate countries elsewhere which is what the EU is designed to do. That's his opinion which is fair enough but it will epitomise a huge swathe of those wanting to leave. It's a sad fact but I think the UK (more precisely England) has always been like that, probably a result of living on an island. I'm somewhat amazed we ever voted to join in the first place, but I think we've become a lot more fuck you I'm all right in the last 35 years so maybe we weren't quite so self-obsessed back then what with the war being a more recent memory. I've just read the last page of the Oatcake thread and there's nothing overtly racist or xenophobic on there and really it's quite a slur on the many decent minded people who post over there to make the suggestion. They're even quoting that famous racist Tony Benn for God's sake Perhaps you think that the hairdresser I've just heard on Radio 5 complaining about the lack of power in her newly directive sanctioned hairdryer is coming from a racist angle

There were a thing on the radio the other day by some psychologist or other that says a lot of people, usually the less well educated, are pre=programmed by our mammalian forebrains to, when confronted by an overload of information, to default to a sort of tribal setting and vote on the basis of fears and prejudice. His ascertation was that our stone-age ascendants made their decisions based on a tribe size of about 150 because that was the average community size in Palaeolithic times, and made these choices based on knowing all of the members of the community quite well, and the things that bothered them consists of marauding sabre tooth tigers, rival communities etc. So fear of outsiders or the unknown is hardwired into any decisions that we made. Now, this fear can be overcome by education and investigation into claims made my politicians but where people don't bother to do this, or lack the ability, a candidate who plays to these deep rooted fears will do well amongst a certain demographic. The irony is of course that quite often, the less well educated might have a lower turnout rate unless galvanised by a single issue that particularly frightens them, like "foreigners". That is why candidates like Donald Trump can do well because he plays on this sort of fear, like generating a rumour that Obama is Muslim and not even American. People are inclined to believe this.. its all rather scary.
Womens tits, and to a lesser extent, arses are magic though.

Methinks you're plugging Project racism/ xenophobia just a little too hard. There are many reasons why many people from many different political persuasions want out of the EU it's a shame that you now have to try and bring immigration into it which is an entirely different question. The Labour party and the Unions believe that the EU drives down wages and conditions. The recent BBC article on Sportsdirect in Bolsover? with 3,000 agency workers from mainly EU countries appears to highlight Labours fears. Are Labour and the unions racists or are they protecting their members? I know you're desperate for the EU to stay in this happy union but your unlikely to change anyone's stance. I try not to get involved in politics threads. I've found it's not worth the hassle because everyone has a view and refuses to listen to the others. I believe that just short of 50% will vote out due to the fear factor which will reach a crescendo before voting day then in the years to come there will be even more bitterness towards the EU.

I have no interest in sending our money to others. We need to look after our own first. Why stop there? Why bother helping out less well off people in this country too if sending money to others is a problem for you. Or is it the fact that they're foreign so you don't give a shit about them? No it's the fact that we have our own living on the streets or getting hand out from food banks. Some of these people served in our services to help keep us safe. We have hospitals in shit street and schools failing our kids yet some do gooders are happy to watch our hard earned get sent all over the world to give to people who are nothing to do with us. Fuck em. Charity begins at home and until our own are sorted that should be where it stays.

Families who have paid into the system for generations. All whilst we see that money sent elsewhere. Not that corporate government isn't ultimately responsible. I want a vote to get out of all government if it's not run for the people it is supposed to represent.

People rarely if ever back down on social media forums, politics or otherwise, you're right and they often descend into ridiculous levels of personal abuse which is why most of us are over here in the first place! But if you want to agree to disagree that's fine we'll leave it there. Edit: sorry, had to post this afterwards! Two of the top four reasons to leave are immigration ;D And the other two are about not being prepared to spend our taxes contributing to foreigners' betterment!

But if you want to agree to disagree that's fine we'll leave it there. You really shouldn't be surprised Stafford-Stokie arrive here since you brought him into the conversation Do you really think there's no distinction between immigration and controlled immigration as practised in countries such as USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the like? From your comment on an earlier post do you see no problem in unlimited immigration for either economic migrants or genuine refugees or even any distinction? There was a report earlier suggesting that the number of migrant entrants into Greece has now reached a level that is 10 times more than this time last year presumably heading towards Germany initially. Do people in this country not have a right to be concerned about immigration? As for Yougov I don't know enough about the organisation or the people behind it who choose the questions, whether the sample is a good representation, whether the sample is large enough, what the prevailing news story was on the day it was taken, etc, yawn, yawn but it still doesn't make the respondents racists just possibly concerned about health, education, jobs against the background of austerity and cuts. There latest poll seems to suggest that 31% are concerned with immigration.... couldn't be arsed to look any further I'm going out for a run

Stafford stokie posted his views on here of his own free will long before I brought him into the conversation! The fact that they happen to back up precisely what I said about some people's views on Europe and whether to stay or not you've conveniently ignored. Earlier you complained that I was bringing immigration into the in out debate when it was a separate issue. To quote: "its a shame that you now have to try and bring immigration into it which is an entirely different question". I've just showed you that it isn't, its well up there in the out voters reasons for wanting to leave. Isn't the reality the fact that you, as a probable out voter, don't want to be associated with such sentiments since they're probably not your reasons for voting to leave and are very much of the xenophobic variety! Perfectly understandable but doesn't invalidate anything I said. Immigration and the 'them and us' aspect are at the very heart of the out campaign, whether or not you acknowledge it, choose to admit it on here or want it to be false! Yougov is one of the main polling companies in the UK. I hope you enjoyed your run
