First round starts tonight... we are off up the M6 to Carlisle. All the first round matches are being shown by Sky Sports+
We need to put out a fairly strong team but tonight might be a good opportunity for a few of the younger players.

1985 we last played there, travelled up in the back of a sweaty van, hungover from a Friday night in Longton, lost 3-0 and I nearly got battered outside a golf club behind the ground. Happy days…. 😁

Very even first half. Sol Sidibe come closest to scoring with a shot against the crossbar. We really need an early goal in the second half to break Carlisle's spirit. We should win this but there is potential for embarrassment here.

My stream is a little bit behind. Must ignore the notifications on my phone. Saw it was 2-0 before I saw the goal. Mixed emotions. Happy to know it's 2-0 but it kind of spoilt the moment.
Oh well, confident of a win now. 6 minutes plus injury time left not to fuck it up.

It was a fairly even game. The only difference between the teams was we took most of our chances where as Middlesbrough missed their best chance and were thwarted by good defending and great goalkeeping.
Out viking goalie Viktor Johansson was my man of the match.
