Homzy's been told that both deals are done (Palacios & Crouch), and will be announced Monday.
Very happy about Palacios, he's about the best defensive mid' we could have hoped for. A little underwhelmed about Crouch, though. No doubt he'll start most games with Jones in the most immobile attack the leauge will have ever seen.

£11-12 million for a player who is 31 in December, though, is a hell of a lot of money. It's also quite obvious that he wont be coming here to sit on our bench. He'll most likely start with Kenwyne Jones, who together, will be the slowest, most immobile partnership the leauge has ever seen. Add that to the fact that he has no re-sale value, and will probably be the highest paid player at the club makes me a little underwhelmed. Given the amount of time that is left in this window, though, and our desperate need of forward players, then I suppose Crouch is certainly better than nobody. I'd much prefer Rodellaga or Bendtner though. On balance, i'd probably prefer to sign that young lad from Palace over him

He's not slow but he doesn't run around a lot either. Not saying he's lazy, just that running around like a mental person isn't his game.

I dont think he will start every game with KJ. More likely that Walters will get the regular spot with Crouch or Jones partnering him from the start then swapping as the game progresses As for the 11 million, well thats the current market. You are getting a proven goalscorer in the prem with invaluable european experience. I too would have preferred Rodders but its not a bad alternative. If his extra goals keep us in the prem then his price tag is irrelevant. The lad from Palace shows some promise but we are passed the stage where we buy players in the hope we get a gem and he can do it . We need people who can do the job. Afterall, we are still waiting for Tom Soares to really start producing and he was another Palace starlet who showed loads of promise when we snapped him up. If these latest reports are true then Woodgate, Upson, Palacios and Crouch are dream signings for us, and weve got the possibility of more to arrive. Four players of that calibre for 20 million is excellent business for a club like Stoke. Lets hope its true

People want us to strengthen the squad, both Palacios and Crouch would do that. Then they complain. Couldn't make it up.

This is great news. Really looking forward to this being officially announced. Shame we couldn't sort it ahead of tomorrow's game though.

Crouch is an improvement on what we have and a fantastic signing if it's true. He has a mass of experience and that is what u pay for. A high profile player that can improve confidence in the team if nothing else. That kind of player around the place is priceless and he can still do a job on the pitch in my opinion. Palacios is also a brilliant signing who can fit straight into our team and has that extra quality in midfield that we sometimes lack. Great news if true!

Just passing on a bit of news. I cant vouch 100% for him but just been chatting to a bloke who has passed on good info to me before. He reckons Palacios has been at the training ground today and its pretty much a done deal (he thinks hes actually signed but he was waiting for confirmation from someone as we spoke). Crouch is defo a target and hes happy to come but floppy chops will give the go ahead after their game tomorrow ( I suppose to see if any long term injuries crop up ). Spurs are hunting another target but would prefer any talk of our signings kept quiet for a few days as public knowledge of us bunging them a pile of cash would up the asking price for their target. He has told me spot on info before and I cant see a reason for him to make it all up. There was only me and him there and hes no need to try and impress me !!! Heres hoping ;D

Bucko and StokeMad running a story before anything's happened but passing it as his own exclusive? I would never have guessed, the DaftCunt Anyways, back to topic before a certain someone grasses us up to ProBoards once again.. (that's neither here nor there) Palacios would improve our midfield ten fold. Crouch would provide fantastic depth too. We need someone, anyone with some pedigree and Crouch provides that. He was excellent for Liverpool and Spurs in Europe and has a brilliant ratio for England too
