Let me make it clear that I think Palacios and Crouch are very good signings by Stoke and will hopefully improve the squad a lot. However, whilst I think we've done well to get them in at all and we've had to pay the going rate, I can't help but think that Redknapp and co have ripped us off. They wanted Palacios off their books, so sold him for 8 million; fair enough. Yet they replaces him with Scott Parker for just 5 million. Which seems like great business. Great signings but feel Spurs have been twats by over pricing them.

Really?
You know there is something about Scott Parker that just doesn't sit right with me.
Wilson if his head is in the right place and believe me TP has a track record of getting footballers heads in the right place he will be much more worth to us than Parker, basically one player to do the role that 2 used to do.

We'll see. I think Palacios would suit Stoke better and the whole work ethic, but I just think it's a bit cheeky for them charge 18 million for Crouch and Palacios. Still if that's what we had to pay I think it's worth it. May help us in January too. Be great if a Palacios ball to Crouch knocked Spurs out of the League Cup.

I am sure the deal with Crouch will not be totally as transparent as just £10 million straight up, somewhere in that there will be some sort of compensation that will pay Crouch the loss in Wages so they would pay spurs who will then pay off crouches wages that will compensate for the lower wages he has probably got at Stoke (but will have I am sure handsome bonuses in place)

No way should Scott Parker have got player of the season last year. What a load of bollocks that was. 5 mil seems about right.
I assume Crouch was £12 mil and for a proven goalscorer (and internantional aswell) I'm happy with that.
Our problem isn't the up front cost of the transfer fee, it's paying the on-going wage bill that seems to be the issue. So maybe the question is how much are the players on and have the agents ripped us off?
EDIT - I thought the agreed cost was £20 mil for both???

These days, your always going to look at 10m+ for an experienced, proven Premiership goal scorer or a foreign player with promise. It seems like we got the deal that we could have got weeks ago, but I don't blame TP for stringing it out to try and get a better deal.

The official figure is "undisclosed"
Figure is probably more around £14-£15m than anywhere near £20m.
And I think the reason we held back on announcing Palacios, was that we got(for exampe) £1m/£2m knocked off if we bought both.
Palacios £6m Crouch £10m
£2m knocked off for buying together.

Nobody knows what they cost. And we clearly had the money to spend, so it's fine. Sky Sports was shite last night. A 12 hour symposium on twitchy magoo and his sloppy chopped horseshit. Ended up with 5live on, significantly better.

To compensate for a much lower basic wage Crouch needed a pay off/signing on fee. Some of that will have been funded by Spurs and some (by virtue of paying top dollar for a 30 year old) will have been funded by us. The beenfit to us is that our wage policy remains (reasonably) intact. Crouch has not taken a loss to play here and Spuds get rid of a player who could have just sat on a hefty contract but whom Harry no longer wanted. I am sure that is why the deal took so long to finalise.

He had his hands tied on that, spurs took a fucking massive hit on keeping modric and signing Adebycunt so something had to give.
