serious question, the Mrs has hinted she might want it for Christmas. I never played oblivion or any of the other elder scrolls games so was wondering what she would be letting herself in for.
Her previous gaming experience consists of The Sims, a bit of World or Warcraft and wii games (mario games and sonic games)
just abit worried i would splash £40 on it and she would find it to complicated. Just how "open" is it, because it think she needs pushing in the right direction with a game or she will just get frustrated. how much more or less complicated is it compared to world or warcraft?
its either that or a 3ds so she can play mario kart and paper mario.

Interesting. Let me know how you get on. Decided I'm going to get it for Christmas instead of Need for Speed, which has had some gash reviews and If I could get enough opinions similar to myself that have never tried it and find it's amazing. I've literally just set the laptop up to watch the first hour of it on Gametrailers. Like yourself, I want to proper dive into an impressive game and geek it up. I'm actually a little jealous of the people that are proper into it. You did the right thing trust me sadly I have did buy Need for speed on pre order before seeing the reviews! It ok but just ok Short Story line and can see me trading it with bodycount for Bulletstorm again and MW3.

I've never played World of Warcraft, or any RPG really. I just know that this game is fucking massive and fucking hard... maybe a little bit too big and hard for a casual gamer.

How is the cheese-quest going? I heard about a magic school, thought I could go magic me up some cheese... took the first couple of lessons, didn't learn anything about cheese, attacked my teacher with my fire hands, he killed me... haven't played on it since.

The problem I've got with the screenshots I take on PC is that most of the places I use to upload them compresses the images too much and shrinks them down so it doesn't look as good after as it did in the game.

I've seen a few gameplay videos now and the guys seem to have some magic sword in one hand and some magic power in the other that slows enemies down... I feel like I'm a million miles away from anything like that. I'm getting battered by everybody that I see!
I need some tips.

I must admit i'm finding it difficult and I slung 150 hours into Oblivion.
It's more to do with the way you level up your character, play to your strengths and level up the corresponding perks.
Oh and save shit loads ;D

Get a companion/follower and it'll help you a lot. Mainly because they distract enemies while you stab them in the back.

It's called cheating, mock him for it.
He needs help, possibly the worst thing he could do is buy a guide. Especially when it's all on the internet.

For anyone interested, Skyrim is only £22.49 at Game for today only. Absolute bargain at that price for the game time.
