I remember years ago having an argument with ukyestony (quelle suprise) who said Stoke's rightfull place was Top 6 in the top flight, I said given we've managed that a handfull of times in our history how is that our rightfull place ? His response was that that was were they were when he started following Stoke My response was, well based on your criteria, I must think Stoke's rightfull place is knocking around in the 3rd tier of english football the, as thats where they were when I started following them (had been a few games in the 2nd tier, but not regularly till the end of the Alan Ball era) That's the sort of mentality you tend to get with Newcastle fans. One title challenge in the mid 90's and suddenly they are a big club.

Does having a big support mean you are a big club, I think It's more down to winning to be fair.

What's success got to do with size?

What's success got to do with size? A consistently successful club will grow and become bigger, more successful = bigger club

Having lots of fans doesn't make you big. It makes you well supported.

Having lots of fans doesn't make you big. It makes you well supported. Though if you are well supported you expect your club or perceive your club to be big.

I could understand it when we were in Division 2/League 1 under Gudjon, we were a big club for that level However, I've never understood anyone who perceives us as a big club because frankly, we're not

I'm just unconvinced Crouchy would suit our game. We need players up front who are quick, agile and who can run the channels and harass defenders on the ball. Crouch is an OK finisher and decent with the ball at his feet but he has no mobility at all and is pretty poor in the air when challenged, as he's a powder puff. Add in his age and no doubt massive wages and i just think we can find somebody more suited to our game and better value for money.
