It amazes me how many people think Crouch is a Jones type player. He's not, he's a fox in the box who scores goals and just because he's tall doesn't mean he can't play with another tall player with a different role. I also hate this argument of 1 in 5 is a shit goal scoring record. No it's not. He'd probably get about 10 for us in a season which is a decent return when you add the fact Jones and Walters will probably get that too. If a striker was scoring much more than that in a season the top 6 clubs would be after him. I hate our fans at times.  |

I think Peter Crouch playing for Stoke would be immense, however I would like at some point to have a striker with a turn of pace too.

Crouch isn't all about heading the ball-he scores (and is very good) with the ball at his feet.
He would be immense for us-and as for for a resale value-who cares.If we get 2/3 seasons of decent return off him I don't care how much he costs.
It's all relative.

I know that a lot of fans on the oatcake may have signed up after our promotion to the prem because I am sure they were not around when we were excited by the signing of Akinbyi, Asaba etc  Now they are moaning that we want to sign Crouch  |

That Oatcake thread saying Crouch is shit really pisses me off and is one of the many reasons why I barely visited the main board on there. Too many complete idiots who overrate Stoke beyond belief.
He's an England international who scores alot of goals, has some skill, lots of experience and with Pennant and Etherington crossing it in he could get bags of goals just like KJ did on occasion last season.
However if we can't match Scott Dann's or Carlton Cole's wages, don't think Peter Crouch will be too interested.

Totally agree on the oatcake thing, just utter shite, what the fuck do we know about signing football players we are fans not football managers. The lack of faith and the amount of threads criticising every tiny fucking thing our club does, It's almost as if people want us to fail so they can say we should of paid 20m for gyan and paid him 90k a week, then moan when the clubs finances come out. WE will sign who ever is best for our club whether crouch Cole or some Romanian gypsy I've never heard of, and that's good enough for me. Rant over |
