I seem to be staying in lots of (cheap) hotels up & down the country lately. Post your hotel related anecdotes right here.... I once drove from Miami to New York and bought some interesting fireworks roadside along the way. Stayed in the Loews in NYC, nice place but after a few drinks decided to let a few fireworks off in the bathroom.....as you do The shower curtain caught fire and the smoke alarms went off on our floor.....I went downstairs and managed to convince the manager that was my girlfriend at the time smoking that had caused it. Checked out the next morning and moved hotels, the bathroom looked like a scene from London's Burning. Apparently Guns n Roses had stayed there the week before and trashed a whole floor so maybe they weren't that bothered

not a hotel story per say, but I once flushed a pair of kecks* down a bog in the poshest Ibiza beechfront bar imaginable; needless to say the drainage failed immediately and I fucked off pretty sharpish!
* disclaimer - I hadn't shat myself

This was 20 years ago- obviously Balotelli copying my lifestyle. Didn't realise that they were so lethal at the time- bought in Virginia I think from a fella sat on the side of the road. The hotel incident was nothing compared to later...did far worse damage later but not my fault

Stopped at the Mount Nelson hotel in Cape Town, got the car from the airport and as we turned into the driveway to the hotel it was lined with police cars and crawling with SA police carrying sub-machine guns.
Turned out that the Chinese vice-president was staying in a suite directly opposite ours. To access the block we were staying in we had to go through airport style security scanners. Used to peer through the window at the suited and booted Jackie Chan type secret service to try and make them feel nervous, I'm sure it worked.

ive been staying in this hotel this week, salford hall hotel near evesham, a best western. I was staying in the room in the middle on the left, a bit creepy, its supposed to be haunted and dates from 1400's a bit dated inside, it was full of old women on a cotswold tour, me and an indian guy who didnt drink, so i had to pay £11 e/w in a taxi to see some life and footy in a pub in evesham. cracking couple of young waitresses though dressed in all black skintight clothes

On the way back we decided to let what we though was the last few off on the side of the road near Miami and the grass caught fire. Ended up a fire engine came and had to put it out as spread quite quickly- had scarpered to a pub up the road by this time and could see the smoke. Wasn't until we got home I realised still had about 20 in my suitcase....serious fine for that if caught but hey. Awesome fireworks though

Breakfast, wifi, free parking. This mornings "full English" was somewhat tarnished with a lack of pork product as it was run by an Asian family.

Was once refused a hotel room with an ex girlfriend in Key West as was for gays only - obviously wouldn't have gone there if I knew that but was late at night and no way of telling ( honest). Wasn't called the cock in arse Inn or anything like that- was an elderly couple on reception and looked non bottom friendly. Often think now with all the fuss re poofters having rights if they still can get away with that and if it works both ways (oo er missus). Imagine a pair of raving queens being refused a room in a hotel nowadays.
