Barton is a prick, mouthing off every chance he got and then pulling up Gervinho for diving before basically diving himself. It was the most half arsed slap ever, he went down and rolled around like a dickhead before trying to tell everyone it was a punch.

In any other walk of life if someone hits you on the face like Gervinho did, you could tell the Police and they would be arrested for battery no matter how hard or soft the blow was.
As for him grabbing him up, it's no worse than Wilko wiping out Clichy last season, it's no worse than Pennant diving against Villa and it's certainly nothing compared to Huth dragging Hitzlsperger out of the wall, Huth's elbow in the Cup final, Huth twatting Matty Upson in the face and drawing blood, Huth grabbing Stephen Hunt around the throat, et cetera et cetera... And how many Stokies are calling for Huth's head and calling him a disgrace?

How many brawls has Huth started? How many 15 year olds has be beaten up? How many players has be he beaten up to the point of a detached retina in training? How many cigars has he put out in youth players eyes? How many times has he openly criticized his own club? How many times has he cost us vital points by completely losing it and lunging for challenges that he knows will get him a straight red?

I understand full well why people call him a thug etc, but today's incident was absolutely nothing. Simply because of who he is and what his past is, it's turned from being a bit of handbags that would normally get ten seconds worth of discussion on MOTD into a national public outrage.
The fact is that in three seasons he's only been suspended once (for that push on Elmander), that's a very good disciplinary record for someone who supposedly has no self control.
For the brawling, I've been in fights before as I'm sure a large proportion of adult males have. For twatting that Man City player, so what? I've hit people before as well, it doesn't make me a horrible person, it just means I'm liable to react when wound up. I refuse to believe he hit him in the face for no reason... And besides, Fuller twatted Griff too if you remember!
The cigar in the eye is the one that sounds worst, but let's not forget that the youth player had been baiting him all evening, Barton was pissed, and the youth player was trying to set fire to his shirt... But that all gets forgotten, doesn't it? In one stupid moment of reaction he turned around and reacted and I'm sure he instantly regretted it and still does.
The exact same thing that happened today happened last season in a ManU vs Lpool fixture. I can't remember whether it was at Old Trafford or Anfield, but Torres dived ridiculously and Ferdinand reacted exactly how Barton did today, and nobody gave a shit.
