I really disliked FM11 in all honesty, took the fun away from the game after FM10 which I'm still playing now
One thing that really pissed me off majorly with FM11 was the one-on-ones. Star striker missing from six yards out because he's tried to fucking burst the back of the net time and time again really took the piss after a while. I don't mind the odd fuck up now and again but when it happens two or three times a game, that's when it becomes not only frustrating but completely unreal

I wish it was more realistic with signing players from the lower divisions.
Signings like Jarvis, Tim Cahill and Walters can't happen in FM, there's no potential to sign "lower league" gems.

I don't know. I played FM09 until I'd bled it dry, I did a genuine three year plan with Stoke followed by finishing fourth a few years later (only to lose out on the CL because 5th placed Manchester United won the sodding thing and qualified ahead of me!) and eventually having 20 years of battles for the title with Arsenal. I never played FM10 and now I've started FM11. I've played a lot of FM05 over the last year or so.

I destroyed FM05, murdered it. What an epic game that was with the old 2D view being the only visual option
Loved it

Is there going to be a change in the stars system in training. The DDM system now is stupid. DDM system? Determination, Discipline, Motivation? I can't say I ever tweaked training levels for my players. Yeah it's basically what gives the stars for each coaches training categories, If they have high DDM and the specialty attribute they will be 5*s. It's a stupid system few know about and makes little sense.

Is there going to be a change in the stars system in training. The DDM system now is stupid. The training system largely isn't functioning as most would like I think. It has been shown the main contribution to player development isn't training but just getting gametime, so long as the players actually play the training just moulds where the points actually go.

I figured that to a slight point but didn't realise it had such a high bearing. Might start playing my young 'uns a bit more than usual now and go back to my old FM05 policies

I've gone and bought the new game every year since CM2 came out. I dread to think how many weeks I've racked up playing it. It's a masterpiece.
How did you get that job, Santy? Is Fuller on the wane much? How about Whelan's recent excellent form?
Do you know anything about new features that will be in FM12? IMO it does need freshing up a bit, though I don't like many of the ideas people come up with on forums like spending your own salary on houses and cars and rubbish like that.
Maybe it's me that needs a change!
One idea I did have was to somehow have the shape and feel of the screens reflect what matters you're dealing with. So, you're on a training ground when setting training, you're in a press room for press conferences, you're in the changing room pre-match, HT and post-match and in the dugout when changing tactics mid-game, office for finances and so on. The scenes would all upgrade/degrade corresponding to your club's level/finances. I guess that's a bit retro but it could be nice and I don't see the harm in adding a bit of colour and texture to what is essentially stacks and stacks and stacks of data.

The previous Stoke researcher had been doing it for years, when he said he couldn't do it anymore they just messaged me through the SI forums. I post a lot on there about Stoke related things and in the Stoke thread there. If a researcher steps down it usually ends up on a thread on the sigames forums letting people know.
The features we're made aware are more to do with just club and player ratings, the rest they keep to themselves pretty much. They are working on the graphics side though, but I doubt they will go that far with it for a while yet.
Fuller has gone down a bit, where I'm new and haven't got a history of providing accurate information I couldn't get away with too many increases across the board, Whelan is pretty much unchanged Carew having a high CA threw out the overall average a bit so I may be able to change it a bit more come September if some players are still playing well but the players we sign could shape that enormously.

Santy - have you heard anything regarding gameplay?

Afraid not, we're only made aware of the new features that relate to the research. So I know the new systems in place for generating newgens and I'm aware of the systems in place for club rivalries to allow new rivalries to be forged over time and for older rivalries to be forgotten. In terms of development I'm in the same boat as everyone else, I just get to play the finished product a week or so earlier than you It was up on torrent sites 5 days before release this year though, so I'm assuming some researcher gives their copy away to someone to crack it anyway lol.

We've had a couple more data fields requested to do with supporters and contracts, the intention seemingly to try and reflect what kind of fans a team has and this may impact more on how you're treated by fans and how stable your job is.
Some things get added that you don't see at all and I suspect this is another. For FM10 non-playing staff tendencies were added to really try and shake up how managers worked and its still not largely being used as effectively as it could by researchers from what we were recently told so it seems theres a lot of stuff beneath the surface that affects long-term gameplay.

It's out of my hands but Woodgate when he signs looks unlikely to be able to compete with Shawcross & Huth for a starting CB position even if you keep him fit. He took a heavy hit with Tottenham (going from 155 CA) down about 140 ish. It will still make him one of our best players, but he goes from being on his day as good as Shawcross and Huth to even at his best you probably wouldn't favour him over them.
If he does well come January then he will get a sharp rise, quite how he got a 14 CA reduction because of being injured a bit is beyond me. Especially since Ledley King went up despite his injuries lol.

Can't you bring it up to the developers Santy? Seems completely wrong IMO

Unfortunately its the nature of the research, its at the Tottenham researchers discretion. Basically from how it looked he was over his averages, and Woodgate was one that he had a hard time justifying being so high so Woodgate got axed.
I'm hoping Jones will be a better representation this season though, having a low consistency stat affected all areas of his game not just his goalscoring so hopefully he'll be more of a threat from crosses and set pieces and less with his feet.

In my third season with FC United, got promoted twice and currently top of the Blue Square Premier. Last season I got Liverpool away in the FA Cup third round and lost 7-0.
This season I got Vale away and beat them 2-1, and just got United away in the fourth round.
Buzzing.
