29.5 miles today, I even had enough energy for a pint at China Gardens.
I then stumbled across an oatcake boat (I shit you not!) at Westport lake, had to replenish my carbs as the pros say.
This time next week St. John's finest will be tending to my broken Buxton body.

Good luck with it hope it goes well, I've had a gentler year this year, did the round GB relay, doing the Delamere trail 10 on Sunday, run up old pale from the start How was Delamere? Quite tough, the big hill was at the end, a good event and race though, some serious trail runners there. Well done on your time, a nice little surprise as well

The amount of women in Vancouver in yoga pants is stunning. Fucking fantastic fashion invention.

Why is it that when I go for a run, I need a raging shit? It's quite common that apparently. Didn't Paula Ratcliffe stop for a quick number two over a drain in a marathon once? Then there's this guy ;D

Surprised this didn't get resurrected earlier this month, what with New Years rezzers and all that. Anyhoo, just wondered if any of you fitness types attend your local parkrun? I've been doing them for a while now but heard Chris Evans getting all excited about it on the radio this morning, I thought they were common knowledge but it would appear not. www.parkrun.org.uk/

Currently training for the Oulton Park Half Marathon in March, then hopefully kicking on for the Potteries Marathon. My only aim is to finish both of them!

When I failed in my attempt to get a London Marathon place, my Cousin suggested trying the Potteries Marathon
London course - flat
Potteries course - Hilly as fuck
Driving up to Stoke from Portsmouth to do your first Marathon, on a hilly as fuck course, it was all a bit much.
As for Parkrun, the 9am Saturday start time I always thought was gonna be my biggest problem.
Finally woke up in time to do one and was then hooked.
Just had to learn not to get smashed the night before during winter as I drive to my local course or I cycle there when the weather is nice.
Fantastic atmosphere, great if you can get family/kids involved, all free, amazing how much longer your weekends feel when by half 10 you find you've been up, had brekky, done a 5k run, had a shower and ready for whatever the rest of the weekend can throw at you.
Once you get used to hauling your ass out of bed there's no better way to start your weekend

I did Deadlifts this morning for the first time in about 7-8 months. Got up to 120kg which is where abouts I am with Squats which I do weekly. How the fuck does that work? I've been mauling my bollocks off with squats for months and I'm just touching around 65-70kg a side, but I do Deadlifts for the first time in ages, and they're like, "Yeah, no problem".

I heard Chris Evans going on about it on R2 as well and it persuaded me to try to get my 13 yo lad (not an active lad unlike yours truly) into it. Maybe this coming weekend. Must lay off the booze Friday night. Had a run this evening 4k in 21 mins 10 secs, no idea if that is good or not for a 46 yo in bootcut jeans?

The good thing is, doesn't matter if it's good or not, people are genuinely just glad to be a part of trying to be fit/healthy and encouraging each other. For the record, I usually run between 27 and 28 minutes which is a round the 50% mark for my age group (35-39) you get a percentage grading against all other parkrunners, not just your event. Looking forward to jumping a couple of percent come May when I switch to 40-44. Looks like your time will be 50-55% at a guess. Your lad will take some convincing, especially this time of year, improving times and your name on the website tend to help, especially when PB's appear next to your name. Juniors (under 14) get their first milestone t-shirt at ten runs so if he has time to squeeze them in, otherwise he has to wait til 50 like the rest of us
